Here’s the story of going viral in 2023
Our last release with 9G Records was in 2014…
2014!
So the label manager called.
He was doing his semi-annual royalty scan for all his label releases…
When he noticed something a little strange
???
He had a pending royalty payment from Meta that was MUCH higher than normal
Digging a little further, he found out this payment was for our TABS track OMG! that we released in 2014 together.
He asked me to dig a little further…so I hopped off the call and began to search around…
What followed next, blew my mind
Over 527,000 videos using our track in Reels
So yes, we got our bag…
and we’d gone viral for OMG! 9 years after it’s release
but more importantly…
WE GOT BACK IN THE STUDIO
Shortly after we released this track in 2014, our Soundcloud account for TABS was taken down for a copyright strike against us.
It was on an official remix we had the rights to publish, and as you may or may not know, Soundcloud “support” is non-existent.
Any hopes of getting the account reinstated were trashed…
We lost years of work and tens of thousands of followers.
More importantly, we lost our connection with our fans.
We were heartbroken
demoralized
exhausted
We felt like we had lost our voice, and a part of ourselves along the way
and so we hung it up…
threw in the towel
called it quits
That was until this fateful day in 2023
9 years after this track was released
and now…
TABS is back
